Jin Joo Ma

Jin Joo Ma is a fashion designer, a researcher, and an artist.

Following BA studies in Clothing and Textiles at Hanyang University, South Korea, Jin Joo Ma moved to London to undertake a MA in Fashion Design and Technology at London College of Fashion. Her graduation press show earned widespread coverage for her collection ‘Male+Female=Mefale’, and led to debut showcases at Oxford Fashion Week 2010 AW and London Fashion Week 2011 A/W and 2012 S/S.

Ma completed a PhD in Fashion Womenswear at Royal College of Art, where her research ‘Dress-scape: Wearing the Sound of Fashion’, explores hybrid methods of approaching fashion through the fields of sound and art. 

She is currently a professor in Dept. of Textile Art & Fashion Design, School of Fine Art, Hongik University, Seoul, South Korea.
